I’m a real slice-of-life kind of dp…
From creating concepts and storyboards, scouting locations, and doing color correction, I love it all, but most of all I love taking a concept and enhancing it so that it truly projects the clients’ overall vision. For me it’s about honesty, with a big dose of creativity!
Here’s my story:
I grew up on set—literally. My parents owned a company in Detroit that built sets for regional and national TV commercials and feature films, and I helped build and paint them.
Upon completing high school at Interlochen School for the Arts, I went on to graduate with honors from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. That art background grounded me in visual storytelling.
During the past 25 years I have worked as a DP for clients in the healthcare, automotive, food, beverage, and non-profit sectors throughout the US and abroad. I’ve also served as DP on full-length movies.
I believe that as important as it is for a DP to have a clear vision for the director and clients, and to be able to communicate that vision, It’s just as important for him to embrace the efforts and ideas of those working with him. That collaborative effort has resulted in numerous Clios, Tellys, and American Advertising Awards.
